Individual Therapy
Individuals seek therapy for a wide range of reasons, ultimately hoping to find resolution and feel better. Typical concerns include depression, anxiety, substance use, stress, parenting struggles, career transitions. strained relationships, low self esteem, grief and loss. Some individuals come to therapy for personal growth, exploring themes related to identity and purpose. I offer both short-term and long-term counseling and therapy to help individuals meet their goals. Based on the needs of the individual, I employ various therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapy.
Couples Counseling
Trust, fidelity, communication and emotional and physical intimacy are some of the common concerns one or both members of the couple have. With the couple, I work from a space of curiosity and objectivity, as I seek to understand the couple's unique and often complex relationship. Through this understanding, I help the couple mend rifts, reconcile expectations, form stronger alliances and develop more effective ways of communicating authentically and respectfully. Because of the complex nature of couples relationships, I typically ask that couples commit to at least 10 sessions.
Group Therapy
Group facilitation is a particular area of interest of mine. The group process allows individuals to share thoughts and emotions, to obtain and provide support and to normalize experiences. Groups provide a sense of community that allows individual members - and ultimately the group - to flourish. I offer the following types of groups: Couples (both opposite-sex and same-sex), Gay Men, Adult Men, Adult Women, LGBT Foster Youth.
